Frequently asked questions

Everything about listing your server, rankings, badges, bumps, Premium, the bot and widgets.

Getting started

What is Discoverse Gaming?

Discoverse Gaming is a discovery hub for players: Discord servers ranked by real activity, live Steam game servers, community game servers, Steam charts and Instant Gaming deals.

Unlike classic Discord lists, servers are ranked by what is happening right now (people chatting and in voice), not by member count or how often someone presses a bump button.

Is Discoverse free?

Yes. Browsing, listing your Discord server, the bot, statistics, bumps, votes, following servers and the live badge and card widgets are free.

Optional Premium plans (Basic, Pro, Plus) add promotion and advanced tools for server owners.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse. You need to sign in to add or manage a server, bump, vote, follow servers and receive notifications.

You can sign in with Discord, Steam, Google or an email and password.

Listing your Discord server

How do I add my Discord server?

Sign in with Discord, open your dashboard and click "Add the bot" next to a server you manage (you need the Manage Server permission).

Once the Discoverse bot joins, your server is listed automatically and statistics start being collected right away. You can then edit the description, category, tags and languages from the dashboard.

How do I change my description, category, tags or languages?

Open your dashboard, pick the server and edit its settings. Free servers can use 2 tags and 1 language. Basic raises this to 5 tags and 2 languages, Pro to 8 tags and 3 languages, and Plus to 11 tags and 5 languages.

Can I hide some statistics from the public page?

Yes. In your server settings you can hide online members, total members, voice activity or chat activity. Hidden metrics disappear from the public page and charts, but you still see them in your dashboard.

What is a vanity URL?

With any Premium plan you can choose a short, readable address for your server page (letters, numbers and dashes) instead of the numeric Discord ID. It is easier to share and remember.

How do I remove my server from Discoverse?

Hide the listing from your server settings, or simply remove the Discoverse bot from your Discord server. Without the bot the server is no longer listed.

Rankings and statistics

How are servers ranked?

The default "Highest activity" sort ranks servers by live activity: members who chatted in the last 15 minutes plus members currently in voice. Member count and bumps do not change this score.

Premium servers are promoted at the top of this default sort. You can also sort by Rushing now, Last bump, Most chat, Most in voice, Most members or Most online.

What does "Top X%" mean on a server page?

It compares the server's activity with other servers of the same category. Activity is measured as chat and voice per online member over the last 7 days, so a small but lively server can beat a huge quiet one.

"Top 5%" means the server is more active than 95% of servers in its category.

What do Members online, Regularity and Net growth mean?
  • Members online: the average share of members who are online, over 7 days.
  • Regularity: a score out of 100 showing how steady daily activity has been over the last 30 days.
  • Net growth (7d): members who joined minus members who left over the last 7 days.
  • Typical peak: the average number of people online at the server's busiest hour.
How often are statistics updated?

Live counts (online, voice, chat) are reported by the bot every few minutes. Insights such as Top %, regularity and badges are recalculated every hour, and rank history once a day.

How do I read the "When is it busy?" heatmap?

Each cell is an hour of the week shown in your own timezone. The brighter the cell, the more members are usually online at that time. Use it to find the best moment to join a server or to schedule events in yours.

Why are some charts or statistics empty?

They need data collected by the bot over time. Live charts fill in after a few minutes, the heatmap and rankings after 7 days, and retention needs at least 5 newcomers or 5 active members tracked by the bot. Rank history adds one point per day.

How do I compare servers?

Click "Compare" on a server page, then add up to 3 servers. You will see their activity, online share, regularity and growth side by side.

Badges

What are the activity badges?

Badges highlight what makes a server special right now:

  • 🔥 Rush hour: unusually many members online for this hour of the week.
  • 🎙️ Voice is buzzing: at least 5 people in voice and well above the server's usual voice activity.
  • 📈 Growing: net member growth over 7 days is in the top 10% of its category.
  • 🌙 Night owls: the busiest hour falls between 10 PM and 4 AM in your timezone.
  • 🏆 Consistent: activity stays steady day after day over the last 30 days.

Server cards show up to 2 badges; the server page shows all of them.

Why doesn't my server have any badges yet?

Badges and rankings only unlock after 7 days of history collected by the Discoverse bot. Before that, there is not enough data to know what is "usual" for your server. Your dashboard shows how many days have been collected so far.

After 7 days, badges are earned, not permanent:

  • Rush hour and Voice is buzzing only appear while your server is more active than usual for that hour, and disappear when activity drops back.
  • Rush hour also needs at least 10 members online, and Voice is buzzing at least 5 people in voice.
  • Growing needs positive growth in the top 10% of your category.
  • Consistent needs a regularity score of 75/100 or more.
  • Night owls depends on the visitor's timezone.

If the bot was removed for a while, history may restart.

Why do my friends and I see different badges?

Night owls is calculated in each visitor's timezone, and live badges such as Rush hour change from minute to minute. Two people looking at different times or from different countries can see different badges.

Can I buy badges or a better ranking?

No. Badges and activity statistics are calculated only from real activity measured by the bot. Premium gives promotion (a highlighted card and a boost in the default sort) but never fake badges or statistics.

What are milestones?

Milestones mark records reached by a server, such as a new member or online peak. They appear on the server page with the date, and each one can be shared as an image.

Bumps

What is a bump?

A bump signals that your server is active. Use the Bump button on the server page or the /bump command in Discord. Bumped servers move up in the "Last bump" sort.

Bumps do not change the activity ranking, which is based only on real activity.

Why can't I bump right now?

There is a cooldown of 2 hours, both per server and per account. The button shows how many minutes are left.

Rush hour, following and notifications

What is "Rush hour"?

A server is in rush hour when it has at least 10 members online and clearly more than it usually has at this hour of the week. Use the "Rushing now" sort to find servers that are busier than usual right now.

How does following a server work?

Click "Follow" on a server page. When that server starts a rush hour, you get a notification on Discoverse (account menu and Notifications page) and, if your account is linked to Discord, a direct message from the bot. You get at most one rush notification per server every 12 hours.

Why didn't I receive a direct message?

Direct messages require a Discord-linked account and Discord settings that allow messages from the bot (you usually need to share a server with it). If a DM cannot be delivered, the notification is still available on your Notifications page.

What does the "Active at my hour" filter do?

It only shows servers that are usually busy at the current hour in your timezone, so you find communities that are awake when you are.

Premium

What do Basic, Pro and Plus include?
  • Basic: 5 tags, 2 languages, vanity URL, 7-day charts, animated icon and banner, silver card glow, a random category slot, and bot integrations (live stats message, counter channels, weekly recap).
  • Pro: everything in Basic, plus 8 tags, 3 languages, 1-month charts, gold glow, more promotion slots, retention, rank history, CSV export and an embeddable mini-dashboard.
  • Plus: everything in Pro, plus 11 tags, 5 languages, 3-month charts, cyan glow, the most promotion slots and a white-label mini-dashboard.
How does promotion work?

Premium servers get a highlighted card and are boosted at the top of the default "Highest activity" sort (Plus first, then Pro, then Basic). They are also rotated into random category slots and, from Pro, into Top communities. Activity statistics and badges are never changed.

How do I subscribe?

Open your server in the dashboard and choose a plan in the Premium section. Payment is handled securely by Stripe, as a monthly subscription.

Bot, widgets and privacy

Which bot commands are available?
  • /bump: bump your server (every 2 hours).
  • /sync: refresh your server's information on Discoverse.
  • /stats server, members, messages, voice, user and topmembers: activity charts (free).
  • /discoverse statschannel, counters, recap and digest: live stats message, counter channels, weekly recap in a channel or by DM (Basic and above).
  • /discoverse status: see which integrations are on.

Setting up integrations requires the Manage Server permission.

How do I show my server's stats on my website?

On your dashboard, scroll down to the "Code & API" section and pick your server. You get live previews and ready-to-paste code:

  • Live badge (free): a small image for websites, READMEs and forums.
  • Server card (free): a rich card with live counts, sparkline and badges.
  • Mini dashboard (Pro): an embeddable panel. Plus can change the accent colour and hide the outbound link.
  • JSON API (free): public read-only data for your own integrations.

See the widget docs for every option.

What data does the bot collect?

The bot collects activity counts: members online, people in voice, and message and voice activity per channel and member to build statistics. It never stores the content of messages. Member joins and leaves are stored as anonymous hashes, only to calculate growth and retention.

Game servers, Steam and deals

How do I list my game server?

Sign in, open Game servers and add a server. Supported games are Roblox, Minecraft Java, Minecraft Bedrock, FiveM, RageMP, alt:V and DarkOrbit. Paste the address or link and Discoverse fetches the name, icon and player count automatically.

How does voting work?

Signed-in players can vote for a game server once per hour. Votes count towards the "Most votes" sort. Owners can deliver vote rewards to their game (for example through Votifier or a webhook) from the server settings.

Where do Steam servers come from?

The Steam servers browser scans public servers automatically (Rust, Garry's Mod, Arma, FiveM and more) and refreshes player counts regularly. These servers cannot be added by hand; to promote your own server, list it in Game servers.

What is the Steam section?

Steam charts show popular and trending Steam games with their player numbers, to help you decide what to play next.

What are the Instant Gaming deals?

Discounted game keys from Instant Gaming, updated regularly. Prices and availability are set by Instant Gaming and can change. Discoverse may earn a commission when you buy through these links, at no extra cost to you.
